Dual Diagnosis Treatment & Training Services

What is DDT&TS?
As a service of Parsons State Hospital & Training Center the Dual Diagnosis Treatment & Training Services is a statewide resource for persons with a dual diagnosis of developmental disability and a mental health disorder.  We apply behavioral analytic practices to remediate problem behaviors exhibited by individuals who are dually diagnosed with a developmental disability and a mental health disorder.

DDT&TS offers both Outreach and Inpatient services.

  • Outreach personnel support providers and families anywhere in Kansas to effectively serve persons while they remain in their home communities.

Outreach personnel offices are located in the Kansas University Center for Developmental Disabilities adjacent to the medical offices on the hospital’s central campus. Additional Outreach personnel offices are located throughout Kansas including Lawrence, Overland Park, Beloit, and Wichita.

  • Inpatient services provide short-term residential assessment and treatment to achieve medication and behavioral stabilization as well as skills training in active treatment.

DDT&TS OUTREACH SERVICES

Consultations for Individuals

  • We come to your community to provide behavioral consultative services.
  • Each consultation consists of 1 to 4 days of observations and meetings with local support team members.
  • We directly observe the person served and we provide behavioral supports training to family members and local staff.
  • At the end of the consultation we have a meeting to go over our recommendations for improving or maintaining support strategies.
  • We leave printed copies of all recommendations as well as data collection tools to assist your team and our team in tracking behavioral progress and the effectiveness of behavioral strategies.

We provide follow-up for up to six months after the consultation. This includes data collection, regular telephone calls, and on-site visits.

When a DDT&TS Outreach team comes to your community we work with your CDDO and local service providers to help families and local staff identify and make the most effective use of local resources.
